At Clearfork Academy, we believe teens struggling with mental health or substance use disorders need more than just a safe space—they need a structured, intensive environment where healing can happen while life continues. That’s why we developed our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)—to bridge the gap between inpatient residential treatment and outpatient therapy.
Designed specifically for adolescents ages 13–17, our PHP offers a full-day therapeutic schedule while allowing teens to return home in the evenings—keeping families connected and engaged in the process of recovery.

What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?
Our priority at Clearfork Academy is to provide holistic teen rehabilitation services that prioritize long-term recovery and personal growth. Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is specifically designed to provide support for teens during crucial stages of their recovery journey.
Our PHP serves as a bridge between inpatient residential care and our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or returning to normal life. PHP provides the essential support and guidance to navigate this transition successfully.
For parents, we understand that your teen’s journey to recovery can feel like a lonely one and take a toll on the mental health of the entire family, so we are here to walk the journey with you and your teen.
Who We Serve
Our PHP is designed for teens experiencing serious emotional or behavioral challenges but who don’t require round-the-clock supervision. It’s an ideal level of care for:
- Teens stepping down from residential treatment
- Adolescents needing more structure than outpatient or virtual therapy
- Families seeking intensive care without full separation from home
Common conditions we treat include:
- Depression and mood disorders
- OCD
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Trauma and PTSD
- Suicidal thoughts or self-harm behaviors (non-acute)
- School avoidance or behavior disruptions
- Substance misuse or early-stage addiction
- Substance Use Disorder
How Our Teen Partial Hospitalization Program Works
The PHP program can serve as a step-down process after completion of our Residential Program or a less restrictive starting point for your teen.
Our PHP provides a balanced online approach to mental health treatment, allowing teens to live at home and participate in PHP while maintaining their day-to-day routines. This provides for a flexible treatment process. Teens may attend school or have commitments that prevent them from attending in-person treatment.
The program includes 4 hrs per day / 5 days per week. (20 hrs total) of group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy as clinically appropriate. Our PHP program focuses on your teen’s emotional growth and development of coping skills.
PHP Program Structure
Our PHP runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, providing clinical intensity and peer support within a therapeutic, goal-oriented schedule.
What’s included:
Daily Group Therapy
Led by licensed therapists using evidence-based modalities (DBT, CBT, TBRI).
Individual Therapy
Weekly one-on-one sessions tailored to each teen’s needs.
Family Therapy
Biweekly family sessions focused on communication and reintegration.

Our PHP Is Evidence-Based & Outcomes-Driven
At Clearfork Academy, our team of trained, licensed therapists and counselors use the following therapy approaches in PHP to help treat substance abuse and mental health conditions:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Group therapy
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Family therapy
- Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)
- Trauma-Informed Care
- Experiential Therapy
- Creative Arts Therapy
We track outcomes to ensure our care is effective and impactful. Many families report significant improvement in mood, behavior, and family dynamics within the first 30 days.
Benefits of Our Teen Partial Hospitalization Program
At Clearfork Academy, we recognize the challenges for your teen and your family when your teen has a problem with mental health or substances and needs to seek treatment. Addiction is a powerful force, but we believe that through our virtual intensive outpatient program, they can recover.
Our PHP particularly helps adolescents with certain mental health disorders or who are in the early stages of substance abuse or addiction. If teenagers fall into substance abuse when they are young, there is an increased risk that they will suffer from addiction or mental health issues later in life. It is essential to consider a teen outpatient program as early as possible.
Your teen may attend school or have commitments that prevent them from spending much time in treatment. Our PHP allows your teen to be more flexible with their treatment process than inpatient care permits. From art therapy to group therapy, we will design a treatment plan to meet their needs.
Signs Your Teen May Benefit From a PHP
For parents, it is important to recognize the early signs of substance abuse and addiction so your teenager can get treatment as soon as possible. Teens tend to hide signs, but some to look out for include:
- Dramatic physical or emotional changes such as weight changes or mood swings
- Losing interest in activities they used to enjoy, such as sports, music, or other hobbies
- Problems at school, such as an unexplained decrease in performance and skipping school
- Getting into trouble with the law, such as driving under the influence or stealing
- They are struggling with mental health issues such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, or depression

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The best way to motivate a teen to start intensive outpatient therapy is by engaging in honest conversations with them. If your teenager understands that they can trust you and that you genuinely want to understand their issues, they will be more open to teen outpatient treatment.
PHP is more intensive than standard outpatient treatment programs. It requires making a commitment to attending daily, and for the entire day.
If your teen is in crisis, PHP may be appropriate. Our PHP is designed for teens experiencing serious emotional or behavioral challenges but who don’t require round-the-clock supervision. If your teen needs round-the-clock supervision, then residential treatment is best. If they can function with more autonomy, then our Intensive Outpatient Program or Virtual IOP may be suitable.
We ensure that our teen outpatient treatment fits around school life. Academics are continued within the PHP program. We provide a time and space for teens to work on assignment, with staff supervision and help when needed
The length of any partial hospitalization program is tailored to your teen’s needs, so it could last from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the person. Adolescent mental health is one of our priorities, so we will never rush your teen’s treatment.
We believe that money should never be a barrier to treatment. If your teenager is well suited to our intensive outpatient programs, we will do everything we can to make sure that they can join us. We also accept a wide range of insurance plans.
